Catching Up

Last weekend, we went down to the beach (Gulf Shores) for a birthday party.  Parker's friend, JR, turned 4.  JR's dad, Joe, and Lee are best friends.  The party had a Pirate Theme but unfortunately, I only took two pictures.  We enjoyed a beautiful day at the beach celebrating with great family and friends.

On Sunday, Lee and I spent the afternoon together.  Lee's dad and step-mom watched Parker.  We ate lunch at Laps, did a little shopping and then came back home.  It was nice yo get away, just the two of us.

I'm starting my Herbal Cleanse tomorrow.    I'm hoping it will jump start my weight loss.  Sometimes you just need to shake things up a little. Oh, in case you are wondering how the 2 week Dr. Oz diet went......BIG FAT FAIL!  We lasted a week and I loss almost three pounds and turned around and gained 5 pounds.  I'm still drinking the breakfast smoothie because it is really yummy and keeps me very full.  I'm running my first half for 2014 on March 29 so I have hot to get a few pounds off.  I want to feel good when I run 13.1 miles.

It's a rainy Sunday here today.  We are going to ride to the river and look at a renovation that was just completed at one of the landings.  Have a wonderful day.

Parker and Mommy Day

Saturday, Parker and I spent some quality time together.  We went to the bank, Dollar Tree for a few last minute Valentine items for his class, ate Mexican, got mommy's oil changed & then called it a day.  Parker told me multiple times that he was having a fun day.  That melted my heart.  Daddy was in a fishing tournament that didn't go as planned.  He text me at 1:00 and said not to come to the weigh-in because the motor messed up and they were trying to get back to land.  He was so bummed.

~Just Chillin~

~Playing with his toys while we waited for our food~

~He loves chips and salsa~

~The only thing I can get him to eat is a cheese enchilada~

We had a great day and I hope we can do it again really soon.  Parker is such a daddy's boy so it's nice to have a day with just the two of us!  Happy Monday!

Confessional Friday-Getting To Know You More

I'm linking up A Blonde Ambition for Confessional Friday.  This is my first link up with her.

1. What's your middle name? Nicole

2. If you could live anywhere else in the world where would you live? In the world?  I would love to live in North Carolina.  I love the charm that Charlotte and Raleigh has.

3. Tell us about your guilty pleasures.  Coke Zero, which I'm on day 5 of breaking that nasty soda habit, and peach cobbler.

4. What do you like best about your job? If you weren't doing that, what career would you have pursued?  I'm in insurance @ State Farm.  I love that I get to help people with all aspects of their life.  Not only do I help with their auto, homeowners and life insurance needs but I can help them plan for retirement.  I worked in banking for 12 years and came to insurance 7 months ago and love it.  Now if I wasn't to old to start over, I would love to be a speech pathologist and work in the school system.  I have a business degree so I would basically be a freshman in college if I were to go back to school.

5. Five items you'd grab during a fire. (People and pets don't count. Those are a given.)
My box full of Parker's things from school including his hand and foot prints over the past 2 years, my purse, my pearls, my wedding album and my flat iron.

6. Marathon running...something you'd like to pursue or just plain crazy?
I'm a runner and ran my first half 2 months ago.  A marathon is a mind game and I'm actually considering running a full marathon the end of the year for St. Jude.  I have'nt made up my mind 100% so we shall see.  I love that 13.1 sticker on the back of my car and to have a 26.2 would be awesome.

7. If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?  Anything pasta.  I love it!

8. Last person you spoke to...annnnnd....go!
A customer.

9. Favorite childhood toy

I was a barbie kind of girl!

10. Breakfast cereal of choice.

Special K

Have a wonderful weekend!

Day 2

Today was day 2 of the Dr. Oz challenge. I will admit, it was much easier than yesterday.  Things I noticed:

-Woke up feeling less bloat in my midsection.
-My body is craving water.   Before the challenge I would drink 60-80 and now I'm consuming 80-100+.
-I had a headache late this afternoon.
-I really like the smoothie!

So, did I cheat....YES!  My son had pizza bagel bites for dinner and I ate half of one.  That wasn't bad but I put it in my mouth before I realized what I had just done.  My husband is doing really well also.  I think this will be doable.  ðŸ˜ƒ

Dr. Oz's Two Week Rapid Weight Loss Challenge

Okay, the hubby and I are jumping on board the Dr. Oz challenge.  Holly had great results with it so I figured I would give it a try.  My husband and I consume way too much wheat and carbs.  We eat healthy for the most part but it's the weekends that kill us.  Just a little FYI, I have put on about 7 pounds since August 1st.  Yes, I run but it's more about what you put in your mouth.  I also am a Plexus ambassador.  I've been taking it off and on for about 2 months.  So, I'm going to take my plexus and do this challenge at the same time.  Let's be honest, I'm not going to follow the challenge to the T because I want this to be more of a life style change.  To get a jump start in my weight loss, I'm going to be by the book for 2 weeks.  So here we go:

Day 1:
The smoothie was actually really good.  I was a little hungry by 11 so I had a 1/2 cup of almonds.  I decided to eat my lunch around 12:45 since I was starving.  I had some of the Organic Vegetable broth....YUCK!  I also had some broccoli and dipped it in yogurt...NASTY!  We had some ranch dressing here at the office so I used some of it to finish my broccoli.  Today is not going well.  I'm hungry and in a bad mood.  Dinner tonight will be fine and I will have left overs for tomorrow.  I think day 2 will be much better.

I told Lee that we probably will not be able to stand each other by the time we get home because we will both be so hungry.  Wish me luck!

Double Bridge 15k

I ran the Double Bridge 15k this morning with two of my friends.  My friend Shannon drove down to run the race with me & Heather.  Shannon lives right outside Montgomery which about a 2 1/2  hour drive.  She drove across the bridges yesterday and said they were a bear. Well, I agree!  The race was very well organized.  This was my largest race thus far.  We parked our car at the finish area and they bused us to the starting location.  We did our usual pre-race stuff like stretching, potty break, you get the picture.  Then we were off.

The route is along the Gulf of Mexico in Pensacola, Florida.  You start out on dry land and around mile 2 you can see the water.  The sun was beautiful gleaming over the water.

We got to mile 3 which is where the bridge started.  It was flat and then you had a huge hill to climb.  Oh my, I'm talking huge.  We did it anyway.  The course flattened out and the bridge was 3 miles long. I felt great after that bridge.

At mile 6 I started to feel a limitless tiers and my pace started to slow down.  At mile 7 we had another bridge.  Oh, this bridge had a steep hill.  Like I was totally dieing!  We finished the bridge and hit mile 8.  It was really hard.  At mile 9 I thought I was going to die.  The sun was beaming on us and it drained me.  Heather was great.  She kelp telling me we could do this and were almost there.  I was thrilled to cross that finish line.

Here are my stats.  Overall, I was very pleased.

I will be doing this race next year!  Have a  great Saturday!
