HAPPY HALLOWEEN

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!  We started the festivities off last night at the Fall Festival at church.  Parker and Avery had a blast.  They jumped in the bouncy house and got their face painted.  These two kiddos are so cute and sweet.

LOOK IN THE SKY, IT'S A BIRD...IT'S A PLANE...NO, IT'S SUPERMAN!!!  Is he the cutes Superman or what!

I was able to attend Parker's party at school and it was so much fun.  It was the first time that I have ever been able to leave work and go.  The bad part was when I got ready to leave, he cried.  Next time I will make sure I can take him home when I leave.  It was an ugly cry!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Halloween!

Pile on the Miles Challenge

Is it just me or did October just fly by?  I can't believe we are 1 day shy of November.  November is one of my favorite months.  The leaves start to fall, lots of weekend family activities and focusing on how blessed I am.  Yes, Thankful November!!!  My least favorite thing about November is that I tend to put on weight.  So, in order to keep the pounds off, I am linking up with  Monica from Run, Eat, Repeat for the "Pile on the Miles"  challenge.

In November she hosts this amazing walking/running challenge to pack on some mileage instead of the lbs. The Holidays are approaching, and you know we want to look our best at all those family gatherings and work functions.

You sign up - keep your miles accountable each week - and also could win some cool prizes. You set a goal for yourself for the month and keep the spreadsheet updated each week - if you make the goal.

I set my goal for the month - 50 miles. Join in the fun with me?

If interested head over HERE and sign up!!! Let's RUN....

Thomas the Train came to the Fair

We took Parker to the Greater Gulf State Fair in Mobile to see the Thomas the Train performance.  I told him a few weeks ago that Thomas would be at the fair, and every day since he has asked me if Thomas was here yet.  He had a great time and was able to get his picture with him too.
Waiting for the show to start!

My cutie!  I love this little boy so much!
He acted a little scared at first.
He has a new obsession with dinosaurs.

It was a great day and I enjoyed spending it with my little family!  I love Fall  because it's always something to do outdoors as a family.

Treats & Football

We went to a friends house to watch the Auburn/Texas A&M game on Saturday.  Was that a good game or what?!?  The last minute of the game, my blood pressure was sky high.  Thankfully, Auburn won the game.  I've seen the recipe for Scarecrow Treats on Pintrest and decided to make them for the football party.  No, they are not pretty like the picture on Pintrest but they were very good.

My sweet little boy decided not to take a nap because he was so excited to go play with his friends.  Of course, we get a few miles down the road and he was out.  He looked to peaceful.  He had such a fun time.  He played hard.  His favorite part of the party was catching worms.  He's all boy!

When it rains, it pours!

For the past few weeks, Parker & I have been sick or injured.  This morning I stepped off the last step at our house and fell.  The funny part was that I landed in the bushes.  I was thankful that I didn't have Parker in my hands.  I honestly can't tell you what happened to cause me to fall.  My foot hurts pretty bad.  I was suppose to run 7 miles tomorrow morning with my running group, but I guess I will get to sleep in intead.  I'm a little stressed because my half is in 6 weeks.  Please pray that it heal soon.

Hitting and Staph

Well, we are the proud parents of the hitter in class.  I picked Parker up from School yesterday and his Day Sheet had a sweet message at the bottom.  After that sweet message was the bad message.  Parker is 110% BOY!  He loves to play rough and get dirty.  That's what boys do. Lee and I had to sit Parker down last night and explain to him that he can only hit daddy when they are playing and that we don't hit our friends.  Oh the joy of being the mom of a boy!

On Friday, October 4, Parker had a bump on his leg.  He told us that a Mosquito bit him at school.  We put Neosporin on it and covered it with a Band-Aid just to be on the safe side.  It continued to become red around the bump and Parker complained that it hurt.  The picture below was taken on October 6.

My sister is in nursing school so on Wednesday morning, October 9, I took a picture (the one below)and sent it to her.  She said it was staph and that I needed to get him to his pediatrician as soon as possible.  I took him and sure enough, it was staph.  He's on an oral antibiotic and has a prescription ointment for his leg.  It looks so much better.

Have a wonderful week!

Training and Portion Control

So last week, I finally got disgusted enough with myself to set a plan in motion. My plan was/is to cut down portion sizes, watch carb and to think about what I eat before I put it into my mouth.  I'm also using My Fitness Pal to keep track of everything.  I don't know about you, but I'm loving the new barcode on MFP.  It really makes keep track fast and easy.

Of course, there is a need for exercising as well. I don't have any issue with this part, because I run a lot since I'm training for my half in November.  I do need to start using my Shred video again.

Last week for a short run.  I only ran 3 miles.  We took it easy because several people were running a 5k after we finished.  I'm so use to running longer distance that I felt like I did nothing.  As funny as this may sound, I think my body was designed for longer distance.

Hot and Humid....but done

Well, It was another PR for me.  I have never ran 9 miles so this was a first.  I have been suffering from sinus issues all week so I knew I needed to pace myself and take it easy.  The run was fine until mile 8 and then it was downhill.  I probably walked the last half mile.  I didn't have it in me to run.  My legs hurt, my feet hurt and I could feel a blister on my pinky toe.  I was so happy to finish.  The weather was very hot and humid, unlike the prior weekend.  I'm thrilled I did it and that it's over!  Now, 10 miles in 2 weeks!  Have a great weekend.

Karen & a Wish List

Oh Karen, why must you track my way and possibly ruin my 9 mile run?  Well, if you're from the south, you have heard that we are expecting either a strong tropical storm or a weak hurricane this weekend.  My running group has already said we will run as long as there is no lightning.  I can't believe my half is in 8 more weeks.  I'm really excited but would really love to lose 13 pounds by then.  I know losing some weight will help my time also.

I have made a deal with myself.  Once I lose 13 pounds, I will buy myself a running skirt.  I love the chevron pattern from Running Skirts.  This particular skirt has the compression shorts built in, which is nice.  I think $69 is insane but I will look at it like this, I'm paying myself $5.31 per pound that I shed.  The sad part is that I could really use some new clothes for the winter but I prefer to spend my money on workout clothes.

I will be back on Saturday to post an update on Karen & my run.
